Icon

1. One brand/logo that I enjoy is Vineyard Vines. I love this brand because I think its well crafted and the color really pops when you first look at it. I think that it is simple and its cute and the colors also go well together. The navy is nice as an outline and it makes the whale pop out, so its easily
recognizable.

2.
I like this logo because I think that it shows all the things that has to do with wood and it's interesting. It doesn't just have a piece of wood that shows it is a wood company.

I like this one because the shape is a bike, but the wheels look like a power button to show that the bike has power and speed.

I like this one because it obviously has to do with milk, so adding the utter as a cup makes it funnier and more interesting. It makes me laugh as well as go out and get this cup or drink milk.

I like this one because it shows that tickets are bought by people, and to make the person look like they are buying tickets, the person is made out of tickets.

I like this one because it H is made out of chop sticks, which are used to eat sushi. It's creative and adds a little fun to it. The red dot also has to do with Japan because of their flag. It shows where sushi comes from.

Whats your stance? Blog Reflection

1. Do you believe your stance clear within your poster? Defend your answer- image, fonts, color, composition, etc

Yes I do believe that my stance is clear in my poster. You can see that a high school student is holding up a large weight with all the different things that high school students are responsible for such as test/exams, SAT, ACT, parents, all nighters etc. It shows that the student has to up hold all these things and still have a life outside of school. They have keep everything balanced and they can't only manage one because then the other things they have to manage will fall.

2. From your initial thumbnail sketches to your hand drawn draft- Do you feel you were successful in re-creating your poster idea digitally? If not, do you like the new visual outcome?

I changed my initial idea from my thumbnail sketches. I was going to have a head with sections split up in the person's mind. I changed my idea to having someone holding up a weight, which has all the different things about high school and everything that is involved with a high school student. I thought what my final idea was, a lot more clear and interesting than just a mind split up.

3. What were the changes you made from your first version to the last version of the poster? Explain why you made those changes?

The first poster was just colors and the words that describe what a high schoolers has to go through. There wasn't really anything on the poster that had to do with the struggle of what high school students have to go through. I didn't think that it accurately represented the struggle one had to go through in order to succeed or even pass in high school. Then I decided to show how high schoolers have to go hold a ton of work load.

4. Looking over your rubric, which category do you think your project is strongest? Explain why.

The strongest category on the rubric is the concept of my poster. You can obviously tell that this is a high school student and there is a big weight that they have to hold in order to stay "alive" in school. The words inside the weight also show what a high school student has to go through.

5. Which category do you feel the least confident? Explain why.

The category that I feel the least confident is probably skill because I think that I knew what I wanted to do, but I had a hard time showing off my skills. I think it could of been better skill wise, but you were able to get the overall picture and concept behind it.

6. What was the most challenging aspect of the project, conceptually?

The most challenging concept of this project was actually picking what I wanted to use for my poster. I couldn't find a topic that I cared enough about to make a project from. Then it finally came to me, when I thought of my life as a high schooler and how we get so much work. Especially at Millennium.

7. What was most challenging about the project, technically?

I think the most challenging technical part about this project was having all the lines connecting with each other for the big weight that the high schoolers has to hold in order to stay a float.

Problem in Social Media

An issue in social media is the whole situation with the Starbucks. People were making a big deal about how Santa Claus were on the cups. For the past couple of years, Santa was on their cups with reindeer or some sort of Christmas related design. People were complaining about how there are no other holidays on the cups. People were saying that Santa has to do with religion, such as Christianity. Other religions weren't represented on the cup, such as Hanukkah. It is crazy that this is what society has come to. People are worried about what is on a coffee cup. There are so many other issues in the world that are important, and this is what they are worried about. So Starbucks had to change their cup to an all red and no design.

French Poster Craze Questions

1. What characteristics of the Japanese wood block prints attribute to the French posters during the 1880s?
The Japanese wood block prints attribute to the French posters in the sense that they were both trying to advertise a message that each culture had. The Japanese wood blocks were trying to show off the beautiful Japanese women. The French posters were also advertising the women in their country.

2. Of the Early European Illustrated Posters- which poster and designer attracted your eye? What about their design style do you like? Do you see it's relevance in graphic design today? The poster that attracted my eye was the lady on the bicycle. (Edward Penfield) The design caught my eye because the whole poster has dark colors, then the lady's hair and parts of her bike and shirt are also orange. The small touches of color drew me into the picture. Small splashes of color allow for a larger attraction for me. I do see a relevance in the sense that people today use programs to make pictures like that.

3. In the Cubism Meets the Airbrush tab- How are these posters different than the Early European work? How would you describe the style?
These posters are more linear and structural. They do not look as "drawn" as the Early European work. The style is more abstract and modern. I feel like I see a lot more posters like this today, then the Early European. In NYC, there are many posters that look like these types.

4. For the Photographic Posters- choose one of the artwork that appeals to you and how do you think they created these posters without Photoshop? Brief explanation on how you think they did it.
One that appealed to me was the Photomontage or collage because I feel like it is a mellow yet drastic piece of artwork. The colors are soft, but the pictures are busy. This was created without photoshop because the artist took these photos, cut them, then put them together on a poster or a piece of paper. The didn't need to use photoshop in order to create this piece.

5. From the Swiss Posters, choose one poster where the composition has a clear focal point, then choose one where the composition has movement/dynamic. Explain why you chose them.
The Swiss International poster's clear focal point is the yellow point that begins in the center of the poster and rises to the top of the page. It is clear that the mountain is the focal point because the rest of the poster are dark colors, and the mountain is a bright gold/yellow.

GIF Symbol Project

Symbol Blog Reflection:

1. My self symbol project concept is to show that I have different personalities. In order to show the different personalities, I had a face reveal another face underneath it. I also have to confetti at the end to show that I am creative. I also added all the colors in each slide to represent that I am outgoing and to show that I am fun and exciting. When I think of colors, I think of someone being fun and not boring. I feel like small things like that can easily represents me.

2.

3. My GIF file has changed from my thumbnail sketches. I did not have this concept on my thumbnail sketches. I wanted to do something with a girl and different glasses on. I kept the same concept of showing my different personalities, but I decided to show it a different way. I thought that the glasses idea wasn't going to turn out the way I wanted it to come out. So I decided that I wanted to do something like my final project to come out. I added the face and hair to add more of a person like quality.

Transformation Project

Reflection:

1. The concept of my project is dancing. Since I dance, I thought it would be interesting to do my project about dance, which is something I love to do. Then I thought it would be clever to make the background something about the Irish aspect of it. I thought it would funny to add the pot of gold because people always make fun of me. The think because I Irish dance, I am a leprechaun.

2. Shannon ft. Ireland

3. I am happy with the results. I knew I wanted to use the picture of me, but I wanted to make it funny so I added the rainbow and pot of gold. I thought by doing this it would be funny and add something more to the photo of me dancing.
